An Air India flight between New York and Delhi with over 300 passengers on board made a 'local stand by' landing at 14.35 hours today.

NEW DELHI: An Air India flight between New York and Delhi with over 300 passengers on board made a 'local stand by' landing at 14.35 hours today.

"AI 102 (JFK- Delhi) made a local stand by landing at Delhi airport at 14.35. It was not an emergency landing," said an Air India official, who did not want to be identified.

The official explained that a Local standby landing is when the pilot alerts the airport officials after he/she suspects a technical glitch.

"In this case, the pilot suspected that the air pressure in the tyres were low," the official said.

All passengers on the flight are safe, the official added.
