New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed an appeal seeking disclosure of details of the preliminary report on the June 12 crash of a London-bound Air India flight in Ahmedabad, including the precise time when fuel control switches were moved from run to cut-off.

A bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant questioned the agenda of petitioner Suresh Chand Shrivastava, who is a third party, in seeking specific details of the official report submitted by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) while families of the victims had not approached the court.

A total of 260 people, including all but one of 242 on board the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, died in the crash shortly after take-off.

"Why do people file these kinds of petitions? What is the deep-rooted agenda?" the CJI said. "The families of the deceased are not coming here, but you are. When you have no other work, you start filing PIL, as if we don't understand the motive... Don't compel us to make any adverse remarks."
