Air India cancels US flights due to snowstorm

The storm has unloaded 5-9 inch deep snow from eastern South Dakota to southwestern Minnesota and northern Iowa on Sunday.

MUMBAI: National carrier Air India has cancelled flights to New York and Newark as a snowstorm sweeps the US disrupting travel and transportation.

"Due to extremely bad weather developing in the east coast of US, #AI101 (DEL-JFK) and #AI191 (BOM-EWR) are cancelled," the airline said in a statement.

The storm has unloaded 5-9 inch deep snow from eastern South Dakota to southwestern Minnesota and northern Iowa on Sunday and will sweep eastward across the Great Lakes and the upper Ohio Valley on Monday and Monday night, global media reports said.

Chicago will receive its first inch or more of snow since the middle of December.
