MUMBAI: Air India announced it will pay compensation to the families of passengers who died in the Kozhikode air crash on Friday evening.

A Vande Bharat flight from Dubai skid off the destination runway landing into a 30 feet deep ditch, killing 18 people including the two pilots and seriously injuring 100 others.

In a statement, Air India said Rs 10 lakh would be provided to the closest relative of any deceased passengers of age 12 years and above.


It said Rs 5 lakh would be provided to passengers below 12 years, Rs 2 lakh to critically injured passengers and Rs 50,000 to injured passengers.

The airline has provided a toll free number--1800222271--for friends and relatives of passengers who may have been on board the flight.
