Air India 747 Jumbo returns to Jeddah due to technical glitch

An Air India 747 jumbo flight from Jeddah had to be flown back to the airport of origin after a technical glitch with the door.

MUMBAI: An Air India 747 jumbo flight from Jeddah had to be flown back to the airport of origin after its pilot saw an signal indicating a technical glitch with the door.

"The pilot saw a door sign and the aircraft was flown back to Jeddah' said a spokesperson at the airline.

"However it was a false alarm," she added.

The delay however caused the Jeddah-Hyderabad- Mumbai flight to skip a leg and land at Mumbai 4 hours late.

The Hyderabad passengers were then ferried to their city in another flight, effectively delaying their travel by at least 7 hours.

Air India has been in the news recently for techinal glitches in its aircraft, primarily the Boeing Dreamliner 787.

On October 15 an 8 feet by 4 feet panel fell from a plane just as it wqs about to land at the Bangalore airport. On November flight a flight from Sydney developed a crack on the pilot's windscreen and two days later a Delhi-London flight was made to do priority landing at Delhi after warning lights indicated some fault with the braking system.
