NEW DELHI: Air India on Friday inducted a brand new wide-bodied Boeing 777-300 (Extended Range) plane into its fleet to operate to New York and London.
This is the first of the 15 B 777-300 (ER) planes ordered by the national carrier, which is expected to get the second aircraft later this month.
Both these aircraft would be deployed on the Delhi- London-New York and Amritsar-Delhi-London-New York routes, an Air India spokesman said, adding that these aircraft have 342 seats, including four in the First Class and 35 in the Executive Class.
These aircraft are part of the 68 ordered by the company in December 2005. The other planes on order are eight B777- 200 (Long Range), 27 B787-8 Dreamliners and 18 B737-800s.
Of these orders -- the largest in India's civil aviation history, Air India has so far received three B777-200 LRs, one B777-300 ER and ten B737-800s for the budget airline wing, AI Express.
