India's national carriers, Indian and Air India, have announced their special fares for the illegal expats, willing to leave the United Arab Emirates under amnesty scheme.

DUBAI: India's national carriers, Indian and Air India, have announced their special fares for the illegal expats, willing to leave the United Arab Emirates under amnesty scheme.

The UAE has declared a three-month amnesty scheme for the expats residing illegally there, to leave the emirates or get their permits duly approved, Abhay Pathak said.

The fares for Cochin, Calicut, Ahmadabad and Amritsar were put at Dh690 (Rs 7578), Chennai (Dh640-Rs 7029), Lucknow (Dh740-Rs 8127), Goa and Trichy (Dh840-Rs 9226) and Dh790 (Rs 8677) for Hyderabad.

Regional Manager of Indian, Abhay Pathak said that the amnesty seekers who would fly to other destinations with a connecting flight be charged only Dh100 (Rs 1098) extra.

"We are also planning a special chartered flight to Hyderabad from Dubai. Amnesty seekers can buy their tickets from the outpass distributing centres at the Indian Consulate as well as from agents," he added.

On the other hand, Air India, has limited the special fare offer to six destinations in India.

Amnesty-seekers can fly in Air India flights to Mumbai and New Delhi from different airports in the UAE at Dh590 (Rs6481), to Thiruvananthapuram and Calicut at Dh690 (Rs7578), to Hyderabad (via Mumbai) at Dh790 (Rs 8677) and Chennai (via Mumbai) at Dh640 (Rs7029).

Jaishree Ramachandran, regional manager of Air India said, "the special fare tickets are available at the Indian School counter and another counter will soon be opened at the Sharjah Indian Association."
