Ahmedabad-bound plane makes emergency landing

Passengers of a Ahmedabad-bound SpiceJet plane had a narrow escape when pilot had to land under emergency conditions.

JAIPUR: Passengers of a Ahmedabad-bound SpiceJet plane had a narrow escape when pilot had to land under emergency conditions after one of its engine caught fire soon after take off from Sanganer airport here, officials said today.

The Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with 138 passengers and crew, landed safely after the pilot shut off the engine which probably caught fire yesterday, airport officials said.

Soon after the flight SG 913 took off, the pilot heard a loud noise from one of the engines and saw smoke coming out of it. He immediately sought permission to land the aircraft.
