MUMBAI: Airports Authority of India (AAI) has given an assurance that transfer orders of its 2,500 employees will be stayed, after Shiv Sena agitated at the airport here today and threatened that the concerned employees would stop work.

"AAI officials have given us a letter ensuring to put stay on transfers of employees till June 15," Sena leader Vinayak Raut told PTI.

A delegation led by Raut and another Sena leader Anand Adsul accompanied by about 500 supporters, met the city airport director to protest the transfer of the employees.

The union demanded that the transfer of AAI employees, mostly of Grade IV class, should not be implemented until June 15.

Sena also threatened to stop the work at the airport if the AAI ignores the demand. Sena leaders held a protest at the office of the director for three hours, till they got the written assurance.
