IndiGo Guwahati-Bengaluru flight makes abnormal runway contact at Bengaluru airport, airline clarifies

A Bengaluru-bound IndiGo flight from Guwahati experienced an 'abnormal runway contanct' during its landing attempt amid gutsy weather at Kempegowda International Airport on Sunday, a spokesperson for the budget carrier said.

PTI sources said the aircraft suffered a tail strike during a second landing attempt at the Bengaluru airport.

All passengers and crew members were safe and disembarked from the aircraft, the airline said.

"The aircraft is undergoing maintenance checks. It will resume operations after securing necessary clearances," IndiGo said in a statement.

The airline added that all relevant authorities had been informed about the incident.

The aircraft, an Airbus A321, has been involved in tail-strike incidents at different airports in the country in the past as well.

The latest aircraft will undergo maintenance inspections before returning to commercial operations, subject to the required clearances.
