This penalty has been levied after an NHAI investigation found dereliction of AECOM Asia’s obligation as a consultant supervising the construction of the Rs 10,000 crores eight lane Dwarka Expressway. The proposed expressway runs from Delhi-Haryana Border to start of Rail over Bridge, Gurugram in Haryana.
The Contract Agreement was signed between NHAI and AECOM on December 5, 2018. During construction, two concrete spans among pillars 107-109 in the third phase of the under-construction Dwarka Expressway had collapsed in March 2021.
Larsen and Toubro Limited was the contractor for this section of the projects and in March 2022, NHAI levied a penalty of Rs 6.67 crores on them.
The new penalty is being levied after an investigation found that AECOM Asia had failed to establish that there was no deviation from specifications and standards, thus leading to dereliction of its obligation under the Consultancy Agreement.
