'VSNL floating entity for retail broadband biz'

Tata group's Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) is creating a focused entity for retail broadband business, a top company official said on Tuesday.

CHENNAI: Tata group's Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) is creating a focused entity for retail broadband business, a top company official said on Tuesday.

"Our focus will be in retail broadband business. We are creating a focused entity for retail broadband business," VSNL Chairman Subodh Bhargava told reporters here after addressing a Rotary meeting.

To a query on the government proposal to make broadband free in the country, he said it could create a backbone to be used by internet service providers for reaching out to end users.
