Currently, GPS device market in India is at a nascent stage due to high duties and costly map data. Garmin, Satnav (which offers MiTac devices) and MapMyIndia (with a Delphi GPS device) are three major players in GPS services arena in India.

Voxtel has contract manufacturing units in China but is looking at opening an assembly plant in India. “We will have to look at an India unit if the duty structure remains as high as 30% for GPS devices.
