Vodafone's India CIO Anthony Thomas quits

Vodafone India’s chief information officer (CIO) Anthony Thomas has put in his papers to pursue other opportunities, according to two people familiar with the development.

BENGALURU: Vodafone India’s chief information officer ( CIO) Anthony Thomas has put in his papers to pursue other opportunities, according to two people familiar with the development.

They said Vodafone on Wednesday sent out a mail to employees confirming Thomas’s exit from the company but did not say who will replace him. “Anthony Thomas, chief information officer, India, has decided to pursue career opportunities outside Vodafone. His last day at Vodafone will be September 15, 2015,” Vodafone said in the mail.

A spokesperson for Vodafone declined to comment.

Thomas, who joined Vodafone in April 2012, played a key role in creating a new centralised IT structure within the company. During his stint there, the company also rolled out several new technology initiatives including the company’s micro-financing service m-pesa and also a new data warehouse. Prior to Vodafone, Thomas worked with companies such as Citigroup, Ernst & Young and Intelligroup Inc. Prior to Vodafone, Thomas had stints at companies such as Citigroup, Ernst & Young and Intelligroup Inc.
