Vodafone tops in subscriber additions in July: COAI

Vodafone India added 1.37-million new subscribers, registering a growth of 0.81% over previous month, followed by Idea Cellular that added 1.11-million new connections, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) said on Thursday.

Sunil Mittal-headed Bharti Airtel, Indias's top telco, however slipped to fifth position, managing to add just over half a million new customers. Its total subscribers base grew to 209.76-million, giving it a 28.18% market share.

Aircel with 0.9-million new connections and Telenor-owned Uninor, with 0.85-million additions, featured at third and fourth slots respectively.

The total GSM subscriber-base grew by 4.85 million in July 2014, a 0.66% increase from the previous month, COAI said.
