Vodafone manages 170-mn strong subscriber base in India— believes that wireless tech such as LTE would dominate telecom industry, & mobile Internet is driving adoption of 3G service.
Despite many constraints, telcos are eyeing at 3G data surge, while a superfast 4G network is still a musing. India’s ace GSM player Vodafone has its take. Network evolution and expansion is here. Thanks to robust technological innovation!
Technology-driven Vodafone manages 170-million strong subscriber base in India— believes that wireless technologies such as LTE would dominate the telecom industry, and mobile Internet is driving the adoption of 3G service.
Confident of avant-garde technology-driven services, GSM major is ready to take on competitors such as Bharti Airtel and new entrant Reliance Jio Infocomm. To boost environment, it has become first carrier to foray into green telecom.
Vodafone, of late, has started to offer HD voice, predominantly widespread in Europe, on both 2G and 3G, and thus has become India’s elite wireless carrier. Among its many-industry firsts, include an API-based service delivery platform too.
Vora said that they have seen how some of the best technology companies of yesteryears are now facing tough times. “Unless you keep innovating, the competition will definitely come up with something new and better and before you realize the rules of the game would have changed,” he added.
“Operators have to keep upgrading services and leverage the latest offerings to ensure customers’ ‘wow’ experience,” Vora stressed. Vodafone, he said, has a firm belief in innovations and continuous improvements.
Vora feels that ecosystem is not yet ready to adopt 4G. “Compatible devices are less and the prices are high. While 3G shall be the main driver for mobile internet in the near future, it will slowly converge into other technologies,” said Vodafone’s technology chief.
