Vodafone offers cashback to M-Pesa mobile wallet customers

NEW DELHI: Vodafone India has said that its new M-Pesa mobile wallet customers making utility payments through the service will get up to Rs 50 cash back every month for six months. The incentive will apply to a minimum payment of Rs 100 per month for utilities including Vodafone post-paid bills, landline bills, Vodafone prepaid recharge, DTH recharges, and electricity and gas bill payments, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

In addition, all new customers who transfer money using their M-Pesa account anywhere in India will get one mobile money transaction free every month for six months. The transaction amount needs to beRs 1,000-5,000 per month, the company said. To avail themselves of this offer, customers need to register for MPesa by dialling *400# from their mobile or download the new Vodafone M-Pesa app on their mobile.

“We are confident that introducing the two offers around money transfer and payment of utility bills will encourage our customers to experience first-hand the instant, secure and convenient way of making all their payments and transfer on the go through the secure M-Pesa mobile wallet,” Vodafone M-Pesa’s business head Suresh Sethi said in the statement. With a pan-India distribution of over 90,000 agents and more than three million customers, Vodafone M-Pesa is the largest business banking correspondent in the country.
