Vodafone invests Rs 480 crore to ramp up network, distribution in UP East
The expansion has brought more than 4.5 crore residents across multiple regions of UP East within the Vodafone 3G network, the company said in a statement.
The company has expanded its network footprint by adding over 800 new 3G sites across UP East in the past 12 months. It now has over 12200 3G and 2G sites in ?the circle, covering over close to 97% of the population.
The expansion has brought more than 4.5 crore residents across multiple regions of UP East within the Vodafone 3G network, the company said in a statement.
3G now contributes to over 55% of data revenue and more than 60% of data volumes. The company said that data is growing at 90% year on year and total data users are now at 50% of the enabled handset base.
Data revenue contribute?s 35% to incremental service revenue.
“Having got this far, we remain committed to continue investing in bringing the best in class, innovative, relevant products and services to win customer delight in the years to come,” Pankaj Thapliyal, Business Head – UP East, Vodafone India, said in the statement.
Presently, Vodafone has more than 2.25 lakh retail outlets in the circle, and close to 800 Vodafone stores.
Over the past 12 months, Vodafone has launched 11 Global Design Stores in the circle, as part of an initiative to offer an unmatched retail experience to its new age customers.
In line with its quest to democratize data and make 3G services accessible to all, Vodafone has introduced a choice of pocket friendly 3G plans starting from as low as Rs 15.
