Vodafone adds 1.03 million rural users in September

Gujarat circle added the maximum number of rural subscribers 0.91 million in the month, while UP East, with a total of 32.44 million consumers.

NEW DELHI: The Indian unit of UK's Vodafone Group added the maximum number of rural subscribers among operators in September, followed by Idea Cellular, as the country's rural user base rose to 307.54 million, industry body COAI said.

Vodafone India. the country's second largest telco, added 1.03 million new connections in rural India, followed by Birla Group’s Idea Cellular, 0.96 million, and Chennai-based Aircel, 0.38 million, in September.

India’s rural subscriber base grew 0.92%, or 2.81 million subscribers, over the last quarter.

Gujarat circle added the maximum number of rural subscribers 0.91 million in the month, while UP East, with a total of 32.44 million consumers, has the maximum number of most subscribers in the country's hinterland, the GSM lobby group said.
