Virgin Mobile to offer Qualcomm's BREW solution

Tata Teleservices today said it will offer Qualcomms BREW solution for effective data services to the subscribers of its Virgin Mobile brand in India.

NEW DELHI: Tata Teleservices today said it will offer Qualcomms BREW solution for effective data services to the subscribers of its Virgin Mobile brand in India.

"Qualcomm's BREW solution would ensure efficient and reliable delivery of Virgin Mobiles latest content to mid- and high-end devices," Virgin said in a statement.

BREW (Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless) is an application development platform created by Qualcomm for mobile phones.

The platform would offer its users innovative and simple mobile content services like entertainment (gaming, sports, astrology) music and messaging applications, it added.

"The BREW solution was a natural fit for Virgin Mobile, as it allows us to coordinate with the global BREW developer community, which includes a number of regional applications, for advanced data services on our current range of six handsets," said Deval Parikh, Chief Officer of Handsets, VAS and Procurement for Virgin Mobile India.

Virgin Mobiles strategy highlights the recent growth and overall potential of the Indian market for high-end data services, Qualcomm Internet Vice President, Global Carrier Relations, Arvin Chander said.
