US co in tie-ups to pump it up for VAS products
The demand for newer value added services (VAS) is rising as fast as the mobile subscriber base.
MUMBAI: The demand for newer value added services (VAS) is rising as fast as the mobile subscriber base. With India being the hotbed of new mobile applications, California-based roaming solutions firm Roamware is launching a programme to tap the talents of independent software vendors (ISV).
The company will tie up with ISVs to accelerate the integration and distribution of new VAS products across the globe. Majority of the innovators are small start-ups and due to increased standardisation, they are forced to build their application on open standards to enable quick adoption across networks.
“These innovations can be easily replicated. Failure to garner customers in a short span can make the difference between success and failure. Roamware will help ISVs monetise their innovation,” Manoj Pant, MD(India), Roamware, told ET.
ISVs will be able to build and integrate new applications on the Roamware Software Delivery System platform. It will reduce time-to-market and deployment cycle.
“We are offering a platform where we’ll become the e-Bay of the mobile VAS world. For any new application which is of interest to operators, we will provide a run on our platform and market it to telcos,” he said.
They will not need to make major investments in hardware infrastructure, with Roamware taking care of integration as well as sales. ISVs will be able to leverage the global reach of Roamware sales, marketing and infrastructure deployed in over 230 networks spanning nearly 100 countries.
The technology domains that Roamware will cover include multimedia and streaming VAS, handset-based applications, instant messaging, location-based services, roaming VAS and core network products.
The revenue share with the ISVs will vary, depending on the kind of work, competitive pressures, time of entry and other market-related factors.
