Unitech gets spectrum for Karnataka circle

Real estate major Unitech, which has pan-India telecom licence, today said its subsidiary has been alloted initial spectrum to roll out services in Karnataka circle.

NEW DELHI: Real estate major Unitech, which has pan-India telecom licence, today said its subsidiary has been alloted initial spectrum to roll out services in Karnataka circle. Department of Telecom (DoT) has alloted 4.4 Mhz of spectrum in 1800Mhz band in Karnataka, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The DoT has issued a letter to the Unitech's subsidiary company for the allotment of the GSM band spectrum, it said.
With this, the company has been allotted initial spectrum in five services areas out of total 22. Earlier, it received spectrum for Orissa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh circles.

Shares of the company were trading at Rs 227.90 at the BSE in late afternoon trade, down 1.98 per cent from the previous close.
