Uninor launches GSM service in Kolkata

New GSM service provider Uninor today launched its operation in the city along with simultaneous launches in Mumbai and Gujarat.

KOLKATA: New GSM service provider Uninor today launched its operation in the city along with simultaneous launches in Mumbai and Gujarat.

Executive vice president of Uninor Kolkata hub Akash Das said that initially only prepaid services would be available, adding that data services would be introduced later.

He said that Uninor had introduced the Dynamic pricing plan under which subscribers would get discounts throughout the day depending upon the time and location.

The range of discount would vary between five per cent and 60 per cent.

Das said that Uninor services were now available in 13 circles across the country, including the two metros of Kolkata and Mumbai.

The company plans to capture a market share of eight per cent in the GSM space by 2018 and be cash flow positive in three years time.
