Uninor launches data services for pre-paid users
Uninor, the telecom joint venture between Norway's Telenor and Indian real estate major Unitech, on Friday launched data services for its pre-paid subscribers.
The new service would be available for Uninor subscribers across Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.
"Uninor will focus hard on data, building on our data capabilities to launch many more exciting ideas soon. We have some solid experience in markets very similar to India with unique and successful data-based applications. So watch this space for innovation," Uninor Executive Vice-President (Marketing) David Meneghello said in a statement.
Uninor will offer a free trial offer for internet browsing till May 6.
It will offer two plans -- myconnect 9 priced at Rs 9 (valid for 3 days and allows free browsing up to 60MB) and myconnect 90 priced at Rs 90 (valid for 30 days with 3GB of free browsing).
While both plans also allow customers free access to popular social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Linked-In, usage beyond the free data limit would be charged at 10 paise per 10 kb.
