TRAI not to review telecom guidelines

COAI, the industry body of GSM players, has challenged the government's new telecom policy in TDSAT. Tips for successful communication

NEW DELHI: Telecom regulator TRAI on Thursday said it has no plans to review the telecom guidelines, including the one allowing operators to use dual technology, and expects the dispute between GSM players and the government on this issue to be resolved soon.

Cellular Operators Association of India, the industry body of GSM players, has challenged the government's new telecom policy in tribunal TDSAT.

The government last week had accepted TRAI's recommendations to enhance subscriber base for allocation of additional spectrum and allowing use of dual technology by a single operator.

TRAI Chairman Nripendra Misra, while talking to reporters on the sidelines of the 3G summit, said the dispute between GSM players and the government on the new telecom rules would be settled soon.

He said the new rules would be positive in the long run.
