TRAI issues consultation paper on dispute over cable TV system
In order to address disputes between service providers in non-addressable cable TV system, telecom regulator TRAI today issued a consultation paper seeking opinions on certain amendments to the interconnection regulation.
The consultation paper would look at disputes on subscriber base between broadcaster and cable operators and Multi System Operators (MSO) during the course of a contract.
Giving reasons for the need for such a process, the consultation paper said the interconnection agreement in non-addressable cable TV system is based on negotiated subscriber base which has not been effective at the ground level, resulting in a number of disputes between the service providers.
The proposals have to be given by January 15. Counter comments, if any, on the comments received may be sent by January 20.
