KOLKATA: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is in favour of auctioning spectrum for third generation (3G) services for transparent, honest and credible deals.

"We have said very clearly that any spectrum beyond 1,800 MHz should be offered through auction for credible, transparent and honest deals," TRAIchairman Nripendra Misra said. TRAIalso said 3G should be restricted to existing telecom players as it would upgrade services and not for starting new service. Misra felt that there shouldn’t be any delay in alloting 3G spectrum.
