Teracom bags Rs 40 cr 3G data cards order from BSNL

System integration company Teracom bags Rs 40 crore order from state-run telco BSNL for supplying 3G data cards.

NEW DELHI: System integration company Teracom today said it has bagged Rs 40 crore order from state -run telecom operator BSNL for supplying 3G data cards.

"Teracom has bagged an order of Rs 40 crore and has been declared the winner of an open tender for providing the 3G data card to BSNL. The total quantity will be 2.25 lakh for USB (dongle type) data cards," Teracom said in a statement.

3G data cards would help users in video streaming applications like Live TV, movie downloads and high speed data download on mobile phones.

The new service will offer data speed of 3.6-7.2 Mbps against 144 Kbps available now over the GPRS and EDGE-enabled mobile networks, it said.

"Our R&D team has been continuously working and developed such a high speed, advanced functions and an extremely low-cost 3G data card. We are at a very advanced stage to supply these dongles to other telecom operators too," Teracom Senior Vice President (Corporate Business) Puneet Jain said.
