Trai launches its apps on UMANG platform to help citizens access government services

UMANG or 'unified mobile application for new-age governance’ has been developed by National e-Governance division of the ministry of electronics & IT (MeitY).

KOLKATA: The telecom regulator on Tuesday announced the integration of its mobile apps --- DND 2.0 and MyCall – with e-governance platform, UMANG to help consumers access multiple government services easily.

UMANG or 'unified mobile application for new-age governance’ has been developed by National e-Governance division of the ministry of electronics & IT (MeitY).

“UMANG provides a single Android platform to all Indian citizens to access pan-India e-governance services, ranging from central to local bodies and other citizen-centric services,” Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) said Tuesday in a media statement.

UMANG, the regulator, said provides a unified approach where citizens can install one app to avail multiple government services.

At present, UMANG has over 50 lakh downloads while Trai’s apps individually have more than 4 lakh downloads, the regulator said.

Trai’s MyCall app helps users rate their voice call quality experience in real-time, which in turn, helps the sector regulator gather vital consumer experience data. The DND (Do Not Disturb) services app, in turn, allows smartphone users to register their mobile numbers to thwart unwanted calls and text messages.
