In a bid to counter Jio, Airtel brings back Rs 399 postpaid plan

Jio announced its JioPostpaid Plus scheme last month. It offers 75 GB data, free calling and with Rs 99 more customers can get access to Amazon Prime as well.

Airtel has rolled out the Rs 399 postpaid plan for all users in a bid to counter Jio's recently introduced postpaid plan starting at at Rs 399.

Jio announced its JioPostpaid Plus scheme last month with five different tariff options. The Rs 399 starting plan offers offers 75 GB data, free calling and SMS. Customers also get Amazon Prime, Netflix and Disney+Hotstar VIP subscription. Customers also get 200 GB data rollover facility.

This is seen as an attempt by the telco to poach postpaid customers from Airtel and Vodafone Idea. The range of offerings by Jio in the postpaid segment is set to change the turf of tariff battle from prepaid to postpaid.


The Rs 399 plan offers customers benefits of 40 GB data, unlimited calling facility with 100 SMS per day. It also comes with one year subscription to Airtel Xstream Premium. Along with this, the plan also offers subscription to Wynk Music and Shaw Academy. It also gives Rs 150 cashback on FASTag transactions and free hellotunes.

Airtel offers a host of postpaid options. These are Rs 499, Rs 749, Rs 999 and Rs 1599 which come with 75 GB, 125GB, 150GB and unlimited data respectively.
