Optiemus starts making telecom gear for Tejas

The electronics manufacturer said it is making products such as 4G base band units, remote radio head, optical network terminals, broadband switches and routers at its Noida facility.

Contract manufacturer Optiemus Electronics has started making telecom equipment for Tata Group-owned Tejas Networks under the government’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme.

The electronics manufacturer Tuesday said it is making products such as 4G base band units, remote radio head, optical network terminals, broadband switches and routers at its Noida facility.

“It is a momentous occasion as we expand our manufacturing capabilities to foray into the growing industry of telecom equipment manufacturing,” said A Gururaj, managing director, Optiemus Electronics.

The announcement comes amidst a focused push towards use of indigenous telecom equipment by state-owned BSNL for its 4G networks.

“Tejas has been at the forefront of indigenous telecom equipment design and manufacturing for a long time in India. In our continuous pursuance towards Atmanirbhar Bharat, adding Optiemus, as one of our manufacturing partners, will provide a boost to the domestic manufacturing of telecom products,” said V Sembian, chief supply chain officer, Tejas Networks.
