Jio launches new home broadband plans before IPL

Reliance Jio has launched new JioFiber packs and top-up plans under JioFiber Backup in the run up to the Indian Premier League, the telco said Monday.

Under the new scheme, JioFiber allows existing users to get a speed upgrade for a limited number of days. It also has offers for non-JioFiber users who can take a new connection as a ‘back-up’ broadband connection to aid in the streaming high data consuming content such as live sports.

“With JioFiber Backup, we want to offer alternate reliable broadband connectivity for homes. This new concept of a back-up connection allows homes to have an alternate broadband connectivity with an assured supply of data at an affordable price,” a Jio spokesperson said.


The new backup plan offers users unlimited data for 30 days at 10mbps. Those opting for this JioFiber backup plan also have the option to upgrade from 10mbps to 30 mbps or 100 mbps for 1 day / 2 days / 7 days by purchasing speed upgrade vouchers as per need

New non-JioFiber users can use this connection as a ‘backup’ to their primary broadband connection.

The Jio Fiber Backup connection will be available from March 30, a day before the IPL kicks off.

Last week, Jio had announced some pre-paid packs with 3GB daily data allowance ahead of the start of this year’s IPL.

In addition to the high data allowance base packs, it also launched data add-on packs with up to 90-day validity and a data allowance of 150 GB.
