By 2020, India should be fully 4G, ready for 5G: Mukesh Ambani
“By 2020, I believe that India will be a fully-4G country and ready for 5G ahead of others,” Ambani added at the India Mobile Congress Thursday.
“India has moved from 155th rank in mobile broadband penetration to being the number 1 nation in mobile data consumption in the world… in less than two years. This is the fastest transition anywhere in the world from 2G/3G to 4G,” said Ambani, whose telecom firm Reliance Jio has been the fastest growing since its start in 2016.
“By 2020, I believe that India will be a fully-4G country and ready for 5G ahead of others,” Ambani added at the India Mobile Congress Thursday.
He added that soon, all devices will be ready to have 4G on their phone and will get 4G connectivity .
Ambani also spoke about the expansion plans for Jio’s home broadband branded Jio GigaFiber.
“Jio is committed to building a deep-fibre network across the country… and ensuring that every premise is connected with the highest quality network, said Ambani .
He added that India will grow from 135th rank to amongst the top three countries in fixed broadband “at a pace that will surprise the world”. He added that JioGigaFiber will offer complete fixed-mobile convergence.
