New Delhi: Bharti Airtel has kept its commitment to summer interns from top business schools and has digitally onboarded them, even as some companies are beginning to rescind their internship and job offers with the Covid-19 outbreak bringing the economic activity to a standstill.

In a statement emailed to ET, the telecom services provider said it last week digitally onboarded more than 50 students from India’s top B-schools to Airtel’s Young Leader Summer Internship Program 2020.

“As part of its commitment to keep ‘lights on’ to ensure India stays connected during the Covid-19 lockdown, Airtel has honoured its B- school summer placement offers for this year,” chief HR officer Samit Deb said. “In these unprecedented times, we have transformed every process to make it virtual and made sure nothing within the company has to stop or be postponed. We believe this unique experience will add immense value to the learning of these leaders of tomorrow,” Deb said.

Airtel has redesigned its internship programme to make it completely virtual, he said. “Right from induction to mentorship to final reviews, the entire programme will run virtually,” he said.
