Automotive, fintech, smart meters driving IoT biz in India: Airtel

​​Harish Laddha, chief executive - emerging business at Airtel, told ET that the telco has cornered an around 52.8% share in the Indian IoT market.

New Delhi Internet of Things (IoT) is fast emerging as a massive opportunity for Bharti Airtel's enterprise business, especially in the automobile, fintech and utilities (smart meter) domains, a top company executive said.

Harish Laddha, chief executive - emerging business at Airtel, told ET that the telco has cornered an around 52.8% share in the Indian IoT market, with nearly 19 million devices connected on its Airtel IoT platform.

"IoT is a massive opportunity. But the largest use cases are vehicles, fintech, and smart utilities [smart meters]. The automotive segment is amongst the top three for us, and we are fast-growing," he said. More opportunities are emerging within the automotive or electric vehicle segment, Laddha said.
