Itanagar: Indian Army and Bharti Airtel have signed a pact to strengthen mobile network infrastructure in remote areas of West Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh, an official said here on Monday.

The partnership aims to bridge the digital divide in regions that have remained disconnected for over a decade, addressing a critical development need in the strategically important frontier region, Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Mahendra Rawat said in an official communique.

"This initiative is a significant stride towards nation-building through military-civil integration," he said.

The project is designed to facilitate greater access to essential services for residents, including government schemes, digital education, healthcare, and financial inclusion.

Enhanced connectivity is also expected to bolster local tourism and create new socio-economic opportunities, the official added.

From a strategic perspective, the upgraded network infrastructure will support the operational effectiveness of Indian Army troops deployed in forward areas by enabling seamless communication capabilities and enhancing logistical coordination, according to the official.
