Airtel resumes postpaid mobile services in J&K
Earlier this year, the govt had blacked out all communication lines in the Kashmir valley, after its decision on August 5 to scrap Article 370 and strip J&K of its special status.
"As per the guidelines of the authorities, Airtel has resumed postpaid mobile services in Jammu & Kashmir, and as a special gesture, the company is waiving off postpaid plan rental charges for the service suspension phase for Airtel Thanks customers," Bharti Airtel said in a media statement Tuesday, adding that "eligible customers would be duly notified".
Earlier this year, the government had imposed an unprecedented lockdown and blacked out all communication lines in the Kashmir valley, after its decision on August 5 to scrap Article 370 and strip J&K of its special status, and also bifurcate it into two union territories.
The Sunil Mittal-led telco said "it remains fully committed to J&K and would continue to invest in the state to bring world class telecom and digital services to its customers".
