Airtel eyes SMEs, govt projects to grow cloud business

Airtel will leverage the telco's existing connectivity infrastructure and introduce differentiated cloud and content delivery network (CDN) products which cater to various levels of storage needs for clients

Bharti Airtel is targeting small and medium enterprises and government projects to grow its cloud and content delivery business, a senior executive said.

It is doing this by introducing differentiated cloud and content delivery network (CDN) products which cater to various levels of storage needs for clients, all leveraging the telco's existing connectivity infrastructure, Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, chief executive of enterprise business and business head of cloud at Airtel Business, told ET.

"Cloud is the fastest growing technology spend among customers. Today, only 30% of the overall compute is on the cloud which means that it's still whitespace (for us to corner)," he said.

"Our interest in cloud is to leverage our infra better, which include our data centres and connectivity," he added.
