NEW DELHI: Provider of enabling software for mobile data services and a unit of AOL's wireless division, Tegic Communications on Thursday launched 'XT9' mobile platform in India, which will make text input on mobile phones simple and fast.

XT9, a multi-modal user interface for feature-rich smart phones and advanced mobile devices, would allow users to seamlessly switch between text input modes to speed wireless communications on text-enabled mobile phones, AOL Mobile Senior Country Manager Mridul Srivastava said.

"We are talking to a number of carriers for our new platform. Samsung, Toshiba, HTC have already bought this platform from us and they will roll out their handsets with XT9 in India after a month", he said.

We are also in talks with Nokia and Motorola for this, Srivastava added.

When asked about the increase in handset prices with the incorporation of the new software, he said, "It will have a very marginal impact on the prices."
