TataTele provides commodity prices on its mobile network

Telecom services provider Tata Teleservices in association with Impetus Technologies yesterday launched a new value added service (VAS) called commodity prices or 'Mandi Bhav' on its mobile network.

JAIPUR: Telecom services provider Tata Teleservices in association with Impetus Technologies yesterday launched a new value added service (VAS) called commodity prices or 'Mandi Bhav' on its mobile network.

"This latest service for Tata Indicom subscribers will help farmers and commodity traders get spot prices from all markets for the commodity of their interest in real time, enabling them to make more informed and prudent buy and sell decisions," Tata Telecom COO Ashish Kripal Pandit said in Jaipur.

Under this initiative, the spot prices from approximate 3,000 local commodity markets across the country for about 500 major commodities will be displayed, he said.

Available on various platforms like J2ME, BREW, WAP and SMS, the company will charge Rs 30 per month for this service.

Developed by Impetus Technologies, Mandi Bhav is a game -changing application that will empower the agrarian community with real-time information on prices in mandis.

Currently, it supports major Indian vernacular languages including Hindi, Marathi and English, irrespective of handset model.

Gujarati, Telugu and other regional Indian languages will be added shortly.

"The application will help farmers and commodity traders get daily spot rates of commodities of their interest which will help them to maximize their earnings," Pandit added.
