Tata Tele to install over 400 pay phones
Leading telecom services provider Tata Teleservices Maharashtra (TTML) has bagged the contract to install 405 coin-operated pay phones at 30 Western and Central Railways stations of Mumbai Division.
TTML won the bid in a very close competition with major PCO service providers and leading telecom players, a release here stated.
"Commuters will benefit as they will have more communication facilities without worrying about long queues common at railways station," TTML Vice-President (Sales) Ramesh Iyer said.
In Central Railways, TTML has been awarded the tender for nine stations - Mumbai CST, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Ghatkopar, Mulund, Thane, Domivali, Kalyan and Lonavla.
The private telco will install a total of 185 lines in the Central section.
In Western Railways, the company won the bid for all six segments and will install 220 lines across 21 stations, including Churchgate, Dadar, Bandra, Santa Cruz, Khar and Vile Parle, the release added.
