Tata Indicom crosses 20 million subscribers mark

With Bharti Airtel announcing its feat of 50 million subscribers on Monday, mobile operator Tata Indicom said its subscriber base has crossed the 20-million mark.

NEW DELHI: With Bharti Airtel announcing its feat of 50 million subscribers on Monday, mobile operator Tata Indicom, on Monday said its subscriber base has crossed the 20-million mark.

"Tata Indicom began pan-India operations in an already established and fiercely competitive market in 2004 only. This is a remarkable milestone, considering that it has taken many of the other telecom players over 10 years to reach the 20-million subscriber mark," Tata Indicom President-Corporate Affairs Ashok Sud said in a statement.

Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL) has registered the Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) at 112 per cent, and recorded 86 per cent increase on year-on-year basis in its total subscriber base, the company release said.

Among the many initiatives kicked off by Tata Indicom was to redefine the prepaid mobile market in India with the "Non-Stop Mobile" and 'Don't Stop' mobile schemes.
