Tata Docomo announces expansion of mobile broadband service

Telecom service provider Tata Docomo today announced expansion of its mobile broadband service with the addition of eight new towns.

CHENNAI: Telecom service provider Tata Docomo today announced expansion of its mobile broadband service with the addition of eight new towns.

The company would provide the broadband service -- "Tata Docomo Photon Plus" in Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli, Tirunelveli and Vellore in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Tata Docomo said in a statement.

Currently, the company offers broadband services in Chennai, Sriperumbudur, Coimbatore, Kancheepuram, and Nagercoil.

"The launch of Tata Docomo Photon Plus service in eight new towns is in keeping with our intent of providing more and more people with high-speed internet access..", Tata Teleservices Ltd COO (Tamil Nadu) Rajan Gupta said.

The broadband service is available at a price of Rs 1,199, it said.

Tata Docomo is joint venture of Tata Teleservices and Japan-based telecom service provider NTT Docomo. Currently, it operates in 4.5 lakh towns and villages.It has over 85 million subscribers, the statement added.
