STL conducting lab trials for private telecom networks

The lab trials with telecom players are on in Australia, Taiwan and in the UK, whereas for the wireless 5G solutions, trials are on in the US, Japan and India, STL managing director Ankit Agarwal told ET.

STL is in the process of conducting lab trials for private telecom networks and small cells solutions in various locations across the world.

The lab trials with telecom players are on in Australia, Taiwan and in the UK, whereas for the wireless 5G solutions, trials are on in the US, Japan and India, STL managing director Ankit Agarwal told ET.

Once lab trials are completed, the company will move towards field trials and then deployment, which should happen by next year, he said.


Private telecom networks are a new concept and with the advent of 5G, the demand for them is expected to rise with industries increasingly adopting them as per use case basis. Private networks will be local area networks which will use 5G and a virtualised core infrastructure to create a dedicated network for industries, institutions or enterprises.
