NEW DELHI: Reflecting the high stakes involved in the spectrum allocation, disputing CDMA and GSM lobbies engaged the top-most legal brains to represent them in an ongoing case in the High Court.

COAI, a lobby of GSM players including Airtel, Idea and Vodafone, engaged noted Constitutional expert Fali S Nariman, senior advocates Ram Jethmalani, Abhishek Manu Singhvi and S Ganesh to effectively put its case across.

The other side, which includes the Union Government, TRAI, Reliance, Tata Teleservices, was also armed with a host of top lawyers.

The Centre was represented by the Additional Solicitor General Vikas Singh and Sanjay Hegde. Solicitor General Goolam E Vahanvati can also appear on behalf of the government as he did before TDSAT.

The other bigshot was senior advocate Harish Salve, appearing for Reliance, which is in the centre of entire controversy after DoT permitted use of dual technology.
