Special audit for major telcos

NEW DELHI: The department of telecom has appointed special auditors to verify the revenue figures of major telecom companies Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar, Idea Cellular and Tata Teleservices.

The telecom department had earlier recommended a similar audit for the books of Reliance Communications. For Bharti Airtel, the audit will be undertaken by Contractor, Nayak and Kishnadwala, while for Idea Cellular it will be done by Chhajed and Doshi. SK Mehta and Co will audit the books of Vodafone Essar and Varma & Varma for Tata Teleservices.
