Siemens begins operations at 2 Goa factories

Siemens Ltd on Monday said it will manufacture low and medium voltage energy automation products at two greenfield facilities in Goa.

NEW DELHI: Siemens Ltd on Monday said it will manufacture low and medium voltage energy automation products at two greenfield facilities in Goa. The factories, set up at an investment of Rs 200 crore, will produce a range of products for power distribution, power plants and infrastructure projects, a company statement said.

The products include medium voltage gas-insulated switchgears of up to 36kV, primary distribution switchgears, telecontrol devices for smart grids, electro mechanical auxiliary and trip relays. The factories will have in-house research and development units.

Siemens AG infrastructure and cities CEO Roland Busch said, "Siemens is gearing itself to address the growing demands of cities." Siemens Ltd managing director Armin Bruck said, "We now have 21 factories in India in addition to 56 sales offices and we stand committed to meet the growing demands of India and subsequently to similar markets around the world." The energy automation factory will be the company's first such factory outside Europe and third in the world, after Germany and United Kingdom.
