Rupa Santosh to head Nokia R&D centre
Located at Manyata Tech Park, Bengaluru, the centre has a nearly 4000-strong workforce, with 26% among them women engineers.
BENGALURU: Nokia has appointed Rupa Santosh head of Nokia Networks’ Technology Centre, Bengaluru. This is one of the largest R&D centres for the company, contributing to key product development in telecommunications networks.
“In this role, I will be overseeing the development of several major products, including innovations in big data analytics, 5G networks, cloud and virtualisation,” Santosh told ET. “Nearly 12-15% of Nokia’s annual revenue is invested in R&D globally, which continues to be a major area of focus.”

The centre hires more than 400 engineers through campus recruitment every year.
Prior to this, Santosh was leading Single RAN R&D in Bengaluru where she spearheaded research and development across key network entities like RNC, BTS and Femto, providing leadership to a 450-member team.
