RITL moves TDSAT against S Tel

NEW DELHI: Reliance Infratel (RITL) approached TDSAT to recover dues from telecom operator S Tel, which had taken infrastructure of the Anil Ambani group firm on a 10-year lease in 2009.

The matter is expected to come up for hearing on Monday along with RITL's similar petition against another operator Etisalat DB.

The development follows the Supreme Court cancelling 122 2G licences, including that of S Tel licences. S Tel had got spectrum for six circles. It may also be noted that Bahrain Telecommunications, which held a stake in S Tel, has decided to quit the joint venture after the apex court verdict.

Last week, RITL had filed a similar plea against the Etisalat DB in TDSAT, claiming a due of Rs 1,200 crore.

The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) had issued notice to Etisalat.

Etisalat DB is a joint venture between Etisalat of United Arab Emirates and Dynamix Balwas Group of India. The JV had telecom services license to operate in 15 circles.

Like S Tel, Etisalat DB had also entered into 10-year pact with RITL for infrastructure leasing after getting 2G spectrum.
