MUMBAI: A Reliance Communications’ unit Thursday said that it has started work on a Mumbai to Singapore undersea cable which will cost about $200 million (Rs 1200 crore), a quarter of which will be spent by the company and rest by three more partners.

Two of the partners are technology companies while the third is an infrastructure partner, said Bill Barney, chief executive, Global Cloud Exchange, which is the new name for RCom's overseas operations formerly called Reliance Globalcom. He didn't name the partners.

The cable will be 6,000 km long, connecting three Indian cities with Singapore.
